Culebra Mish Mash ~ From Goats in a Boat to Boys at Bat to...

Some days have more in them than others. Yesterday was one of those days.

The day started out grey but there is color everywhere, if you look for it. And I do.
The wind was blowin' out there, giving these two kite guys what looked like an awesome ride

After some work, I was being dropped off when we saw Susie and Jacinto's jeep just sitting in the road, across the street from my house. It was a little worrisome, as neither of them were in it or anywhere in sight. Francie tried to call Susie as I wondered out loud whether the rapture had happened and they were gone, leaving us to clean up the mess. A few minutes later I came inside to try a different number but there was a message already from Susie that their goats had gotten out of their (huge) penned in area down the street and they were trying to get them back. Then I went online and in my email was a Facebook notice from Matty. I clicked and saw these photos he had taken as he was driving by my place. Goats in a boat. Sure, that made sense. It's Culebra. I'd noticed the sea grape tree had some really chewed on leaves and blamed it on the horses, but I think I know the real culprits now.

'Ok, the coast is clear, everyone in the boat!'
'Breathe in, breathe out. I AM a captain. There IS water. We WILL get away.'
'Keep your faces hidden, that dude's got a camera! Why couldn't YOU be the lookout'
"You're never going to get away in that boat, you idiots! Let's run; they've already got us on CCTV."

Thanks for the photos, Matty!!!

After seeing the trailer for the movie Surfwise, playing at Cine Culebra (a curmudgeonly old surfer with a passel of kids who led a radically alternative life), I decided to head into town and watch it. It was great, but at some point, I had a sneezing attack (maybe the AC, I'm not used to it, maybe perfume in the air, who knows) and made a hasty exit. Outside, Jupiter and Venus had done exactly as predicted and even I could get a fairly good shot of them. They were just so there, brilliant, huge, close.

On the way home I noticed the ball field was lit up and went to see who was playing. It was a small crowd, the announcing being done from in the stands by Luis. I love watching these guys play. And I'd never seen a bright yellow ball before. It was a lot easier to see it!

Easier to see if it wasn't in a glove
Ah! There it is.
It was a good walk home in the breezy cool night, the Big Dipper on one side of me, Orion on the other, Jupiter and Venus now out of sight. The cat was waiting and so was my bed. Another day and night cycle on Culebra done, I smiled myself to sleep.

Have a find your talent Thursday. Do something therapeutic.
