Oh That Harvest Moon!

There is something about the Harvest Moon, even living in the tropics, even growing up in Florida,  that first chill at dusk, the warmth of the sun giving way to moonrise, the smell of a fire - none of that is hard to conjure up. And while I enjoy my single state of being almost all of the time, it is not Valentine's Day that tugs a bit for coupleness, it's the idea of dancing to this song, on a beach where the sand has cooled and that yellow path across the water glimmers on the horizon, stretching to the sand. The Harvest moon rising.

Harvest Moon, Barley Moon, Full Corn Moon, Fruit Moon (Fruit Moon! I like this!). Down under, it's the Worm Moon, Lenten Moon, Crow Moon, Sugar Moon, Chaste Moon, Sap Moon. Chaste Moon; wonder where that came from.

We'll get those cool sands, but it won't be for months yet. In the meantime, enjoy the moon tonight, no matter where you are or what you call it. Watch and listen. One or two or three or four, clear or cloudy, it's a good night for a moon dance.

Have a moonshine Monday. Do something melodiously, meltingly metamorphic.

On the way and on his way

We are supposed to be in Oregon right now, but Elijah's dog Ragamuffin took a runner the night before and didn't get home until dusk last night. Since he's never done that before we weren't exactly still having high hopes, but then, there he was and very, very glad to be back. So as soon as the coffee is consumed along with a few odds and ends, we head up the coast. Right now it's foggy, but hopefully that will burn off.

Hopefully, in fact, it will be clear everywhere tonight for the Super Harvest Moon. For the first time in 20 years...well, read it yourself, in a much more NASA-like fashion, here. And please don't forget to dance in the moonlight if you can; you'll be glad you did.

And for all of those friends and family who have sent thoughts, goodies, and most importantly, love, to my brother Jonny, here is proof that he's been working hard to get out of that bed, back home and back to work! Congrats, brother mine! You're more than halfway there!

Day Two on the Job!

Have a turning Thursday! Do something transforming!
