Anatomy of a Culebra Sunset

We have a lot of spectacular sunsets here on Culebra, flaming reds and oranges, pinks and sometimes greens, including the green flash. Last evening's was not aglow in bands of color, but beautiful nonetheless. Along with getting to spend good time with good friends. Here, where we might see each other five times in a day, it's most often hello's and hugs and moving on with the day, so hours of talk and wine and (and wine talking) along with some amazing water gazing is special. And good. Thanks, you two!

But first (or second), this is a boat that was in the harbor yesterday. According to radio chatter and some people watching, it is a tourist pirate boat thing, and was towed in due to engine failure. Maybe it's the new ferry?

Ok, back to the sunset!

Good bye for the night, Sol!

Here's something you don't see every day. Ok, I've never seen this...until now.

Beach Kitties
Finally it was time to go, and we realized hunger was hitting. So to the pizza place we went, having some fantastic food; one of the best calzones I've ever had, along with wings and a pizza slice. Yum! Thanks, Willy, Jenny and kitchen crew, you rock!

And now, off to town to see if the protest concerning the ferry happened. I thought it was at 4 PM but it was at 4 AM. Which is what happens if you read facebook after a long day and a fair amount of wine. Our ferry situation is dire and in need of fast  revamping...we'll see what happens next.

Have a fruitful Friday! Do something forcefully.

  1. MJ, I hope you'll blog about the situation with the ferry. I saw Jon's FB post along with Susie's, but google-translate isn't handling the idioms well, and I'm barely getting the gist.

  2. That red boat would make a good artificial reef!

  3. I plan on doing that some tomorrow, when I know a little more of the upshot of the thing. The protest did happen, there was a television crew there, I got some photos, but I didn't stay to the end. More anon.
