Would you rather look at this sign?
Or these?
Thanks to all of the children who work on these signs and to Abbie and her crew for teaching them to care about the turtles of their island home. While many, in Abbie's school and other groups and individuals work behind the scenes, people we rarely or never see or hear about , these works of art are right out there to remind us of something magical that happens year in, year out, before we got on the planet and hopefully, for many more generations to come.
Another really cool thing about these signs is that they are discussed in a book on graphic design for nature interpretation entitled "Interpretation by Design" (2008) re their appropriateness to the local setting and how the colors complement the geographical area. The book presents available sign alternatives for agencies and private organizations. Pretty impressive!
