So sweet! I want Culebra to be my final port of call. I'm sure there will be a great tribute for these great contributors to Culebra. I wish I could have known them.
Debbie, I feel much the same...I did meet Fred and Joyce briefly, but they were leaving as I was arriving - though almost nine years later I still hear new stories. As one man told me today, if you had a problem, the word always was, 'Go see Doc Fred, he can take care of you.' They will be forever missed, forever celebrated on Culebra.
Doc Fred and Joyce were a very beloved couple who lived on Culebra (where Molly and Jerry now have their guest house), taking care of...well, if I gather correctly, the ills, foibles and joy of many on Culebra. That's the quickie version! Before my time, unfortunately, except for a quick meeting when Patty Wood took me over there to meet them and see one of the few cashew trees on Culebra...
