Some weekend goings-on

I can't promise that if you go a little bit past the Ecological School (heading away from town) that you will see this sight on a weekend, but it is possible. And if you do, you will also be able to buy a plate of tender, delicious lechon, with a couple of sides, one being rice and beans, no doubt, because that is the perfect side. And it's not even Christmas!

Culebra can always surprise me. Usually in the good way. The above is one of the good ones. I don't think I could eat lechon all of the time. Just like I can only eat a bag of chicharons about once a year...

Here's something else you might do on a weekend. The weekend of the 28th and 29th, particularly, on so close you can see it, so hard to get to, Jost Van Dyke. Foxy's Wooden Boat Regatta.

This regatta is probably my favorite 'big' event on Jost. Just the classic boats alone, the schooners, the island boats, even Gli Gli came in one year, and who knows, might again... You might even see one of the famous St. John Cowhorns. And probably will.

The crowd is mellow, the mood...well, sure, it's a bunch of old wooden boats and people who love them...that's the mood!

This year there will also be some classic boats withOUT sails. Which will be an interesting addition, depending on what shows up.

You could get serious and go over to Rio Piedras on Sunday, to make and/or hear some serious statements about the state of life concerning Culebra. If that sounds vague, it is; I'm just not feeling real get up and get loud at the moment! It's still real quiet and beautiful right now. Let me know if you want more information.

Now that your social calender is somewhat expanded, I will put down my silver pen, and pick up some plants and dirt.

Have a saturated Saturday! Do something serene.

  6. Daily! Yikes! That could be very dangerous and require much self control if I were there! Hopefully it stays a weekend thing for a while. Still trying to get the next trip planned.....

  8. Us too! These darn kids and their activities are really interfering with MY plans! The nerve!!!

And, yeah, I can't see lechon and self control going exactly hand in hand either!
