Brrrrr!!! It's cold this morning!

The cat almost mastered dragging the blanket off of me this morning, me clutching tightly, her gingerly clawing the fleece and pulling. After letting her win I got up, fed her and dove back into bed, convinced there would be ice on the bay this morning. But there isn't.

It almost looks like ice though, doesn't it?

I was reminded of a world I lived in once that held things like robes

and slippers...

and lots of pajamas!

I still have a few nightgowns, old and thin soft cotton that my aunt gives to me. She is 95 this month and will not let me leave her without a boatload of clothes that she gives all the women in the family. Dresses from Paris that are 50 years old, shoes from New York, simple, elegant nightgowns that have enough material for a circus tent, though she is a small woman. They are the sort of nightgowns that a movie star wakes up in (not a celebrity, a movie star).

And every year when certain catalogs come around, I *almost* buy myself some real pajamas, just to feel that special wash of memory that pajamas bring when you know you are getting dressed for bed (as odd as that sounds now). Usually sleep wear these days is a big t shirt or maybe not, depending on the level of heat. But this morning, it's cold. I want a robe, I want flannel jammies, I want slippers! I want to stay in bed, even as the sun comes out and begins to warm the day.

I think I just want to be five years old for a little while longer. Maybe it was a spell the moon cast while I slept...

...and maybe not.
