Tomorrow is the big day, whether here on Culebra, where we will either have a new mayor or go on with our old mayor or on the BIG mainland, where Bush will be out and Obama or McCain in. Obviously, I am hoping it will be Obama, but I sort of feel like I do about hurricanes...hope for the best, prepare for the worst. And the tag line, make sure you have plenty of your favorite libations. The word out is that
all stores are going to be closed, and there are no sales of alcohol on election day!
I will be with a group of friends (and it seems this party is getting bigger all the time...could be that with no bars will be serving, might as well hang with friends where we can all be, and drink and eat, together) as mentioned. We'll know who the next mayor will be by tomorrow evening if not earlier. Will we really know tomorrow night who the next Prez will be?
PLEASE!!! Make sure your vote is counted correctly and if you have problems, be sure to report them loudly and accurately! I'm very glad that here we still have paper ballots...just seems better that way. Maybe it takes longer to count, but at least you can't disregard a piece of paper with an X on it! Oh well, so much for electoral Luddites like me.
Regardless of what happens, we all have to face each other and try to work together after this is over. Everyone is exhausted, and there could be weather from the huge sigh of relief once it's time to just move ahead. The sun will come up again and go down, the waves will keep rolling in, the stars will shine. Don't forget to breathe!
