Happy Passover! Happy Easter!

Happy Easter and Happy Passover (as it continues!) No matter how or where you are this day, whether your church or temple is make of stone and glass, or trees and grass, or beach and waves, have a glorious Sunday!

I found this photo (below) when I was trying to find something that puts the very disparate concepts (or not) of the Easter Bunny and the Easter Jesus together. This was much more interesting that I anticipated, because along with it was some text that I had never heard about and that in my opinion puts an even more connected spin between Passover and Easter...for whatever that's worth.

"A very interesting custom is maintained on Holy Saturday when people go to the church in order to have their food blessed. Children like this custom the most. Small baskets which is called swiecone are filled with eggs which are painted in different colors and patterns (pisanki, kraszanki), ham or sausage, bread, salt, pepper, horseradish and sugar or sponge-cake lambs. The consecration of eggs refers to egg being an ancient symbol of life, and horseradish refers to the bitterness of the passion of Jesus which, on the day of resurrection, changed into joy and sweetness."
