Sailing in Kanasas

Far away from Caribbean home waters, the Perry Lake Yacht Club held its Commodore Cup this weekend. There were a lot of participants, and the same sailing camaraderie we find in the islands...well, pretty much the same anyway. Good people who love sailing is always a fine start.

We didn't race, but we did sail both days, on Dan's boat Monkey Cage. Thanks, Dan the Man! A lot of fun, a lot of new memories. And the deep joy of watching my grandchildren learning to love sailing...what's better than that?

I love this shot Sloane took

Uh huh...I'm pretty happy

Enjoy all the minutes of your day and night! Life rarely does repeats.

  1. Ah, yes. Sailing sets you free, even as a spectator. Sunday was my bride's first day out and about since her mom passed away, August 27. She was in sore need of a happy day, so we drove up the river road along the Palisades. A freshening breeze cooled the 85 degree sunshine, and powered scores of sailboats briskly about the Alton pool for our viewing pleasure. I'm still smiling.

  2. Sorry to hear about your wife's Mom and really glad you both could get out for a healing drive. There really is something about sailing and sailboats that opens up the spirit...
