Yesterday was full of rain, often with strong winds...and all coming out of the West. Strong rain, soft rain, steady rain, lasting for a minute rain. Lasting all day and night rain.
In the middle of the day I heard the sirens of police cars and knew it must be time to walk to the road and say a silent farewell to Don Monchin. A pick up truck, holding the Culebra and Puerto Rico flag draped coffin drove by slowly. I remembered the last time I saw him, walking back from the store, our daily wave and watching as someone - there was almost always someone - stopped him for a brief chat. Holding those memories, and many others, is a good thing.
This morning is still and cool, with a faint glow of that big yellow ball trying to break through. A few birds are singing wildly; maybe their songs from yesterday have to get out, or they are just proclaiming Good-bye Tomas!! Hmmm...except for the rain I'm hearing right now...
