  1. yes, thankyou helen thomas...! i was sorry her comments on the israel/palestine thing got her in trouble and inadvertantly ended her career which may have affected her health due to the stress.......... and nice to see that 1964 country squire still going..!!! i was 10 on st john at the time, pres. kennedy had recently been killed, and my father had 5 more years left in life....... i wonder what will happen tomorrow which we don't know about today.......... life is funny(strange) that way..!

  2. "Asked about how she will be remembered as a journalist, Thomas cried and said that the obituary writers would remember her as anti-Semite.
“As the person who asked why. That’s what I want as my epitaph: ‘Why?’ It’s always been my favorite question, even though it rarely gets answered."

I'm not sure how much she regretted what she said and while it may have affected her health, she never backpedaled on a word.

Yes, what happens next is always a good thing to ponder while we live out today...

  3. Godspeed, Helen Thomas! Thank you for asking real questions of the powerful and for caring more about the answers than about camera angle. Maybe in heaven each reporter who gets called on after Thomas will stand up and say, "Why won't you answer Helen's question?" It never happened in the White House Press Room.

  4. On Sunday Morning, a journalist who worked near her for many years said that her most frequent aside to him was (not exact quote due to my faulty memory) "Why the hell do they think we will believe that?"

    1. Me too. It certainly stood out in the line of vehicles.

  6. We had a couple Country Squires when I was a kid. I'll tell you my favorite Country Squire story in person. After a couple mojitos.
