Tiny Home Tuesday

There are lots of tiny to small homes here on Culebra. Not too long ago, they were the norm rather than the exception. Now building seems to go bigger and higher and usually not really very attractive in many cases; tall and boxy with no really interesting architectural features. Of course, there are exceptions, just not enough. At least, that's what I think. So give me the old tiny homes, simple because simplicity was more of a way of life and it worked.

This is one I'm sure I've posted before, but it is one of my very favorite houses on Culebra and it's probably only 10 years old or so. Simple and balanced. One day maybe I'll get to see inside.

This is an older home, but it's been fixed up in recent years and looks great.

I'm not sure what's going on here, but someone is calling it home. And I really like the wind vane on the house next door!
A tiny house my son and his friend are building out in California. I think they've got less than 2 grand into it so far. Reuse, renew!
One of the shows I've been watching up on Housesitting Hill is Treehouse Masters. These guys build beautiful tree houses, albeit expensive ones. But the inspiration is what matters here, which is why I mention it. The host, Pete Nelson, is having way too much fun and loves each build like it is his own. So whether you want a writer's retreat, a guest space, a home for yourself, don't ever think you can't. You can!

Have a take it to the top Tuesday. Do something taoist.

  1. One of my favorite 'Tiny Homes of Culebra' is your's. With it's view, it's beautiful yard, it's location, it's simplicity, ah..simplicity. The older I get the more I love simplicity. Oh, and the inconspicuousness (is that a George Bush word?)

    1. It's my favorite too. Way low on the charm factor, way high on the sanctuary/tranquility o meter. And if you want to still be allowed to read this blog, do not ever, even in question, associate my humble abode with that name again!
