Why we are fighting this
Nothing makes an issue as real as a visual. Well, here it is, the Terruno project we were told was just a small little project, well fit in to Culebra, eco friendly, la & la & la. This is the same Terruno project which wants to now add TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE units, The above shows what this 'little project' will look like. This big. This huge. This destructive to so many facets of Culebra, all to satisfy the greed of a few who don't seem to know the meaning of the word enough. Enough for sorrow bigger than this project.
NOW are you ready to join us in saving what's left?
It may be too late...the wheels are not just turning, they are spinning faster than belief. But there are good people working diligently, according to law and respect, for this to be halted according to the laws of the land. I am only a supporter, and I thank them for doing such hard work.
I will add the letter sent out later today. I seem to be tech challenged here and need to head out.
We can only continue to put the truth out there and work and hope sanity prevails rather than money lust.

no words as eloquent as yours....I would have used effin too much.
ReplyDeleteOh golly, I never use that word...here.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on this MJ
ReplyDeleteWe have been fighting this on St. Maarten for years and not very successfully unfortunately.
SXM looks like Miami Beach now.
Don't let that happen to Culebra!
Barbara
Barbara, I hear everything from it's a done deal, the owner has given the mayor acres of land, he's a powerful person politically, to...don't give up, must have hope etc etc.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to have good hope and while I don't see Miami I do fear for a St. Thomas look, which is what I'm sure they are hoping for. On a 3 x 7 mile island. Which should be left alone.
Thanks darlin'. It's painful.
Tell me about it
ReplyDeleteI cannot tell you hoe many of these fights we have lost here.
We are currently in a big one to save the Emilio Wilson estate. and we'll probably lose.
Money talks......

Here is a report from Coralations, from a year ago! Nothing has changed much, just more lawyers and bigger lies.

given the size of the island that is one HUGE chunk of land. while Culebrenses should be able to conduct business and thrive, at some point development will reduce the attraction and profitability of the place. it's a relatively easy island to get to with a remote feel - can't easily create that and once it's gone... may as well be in some generic crap hole.
ReplyDeleteIf that's the crowd desired then the question is raised: why go there when the cruises hit "bigger" islands with casinos and chain restaurants? or is that next? the Not Aruba Factor is the draw.
count me out.
Exactly. The fable (and moral) of killing the goose that laid the golden eggs is a classic for a reason.
ReplyDelete(for the benefit of anyone who doesn't know this famous fable of Aesop)
THE GOOSE THAT LAID THE GOLDEN EGGS
A Man and his Wife had the good fortune to possess a Goose which laid a Golden Egg every day. Lucky though they were, they soon began to think they were not getting rich fast enough, and, imagining the bird must be made of gold inside, they decided to kill it in order to secure the whole store of precious metal at once. But when they cut it open they found it was just like any other goose. Thus, they neither got rich all at once, as they had hoped, nor enjoyed any longer the daily addition to their wealth.
Much wants more and loses all.
