Moon over Culebra

Tonight the full moon will blaze from heaven to earth all over the world. I'll be getting the show from Culebra, a tropical place where, of the many names the February full moon is known by, only a couple seem to work well here (luckily, the Micmac's of Canada name, Snow Blinding Moon, is one that doesn't work here).

The Chinese, call it the Budding Moon and flora certainly seems in a budding mode here. In New Guinea, it is known as the Parrotfish Moon, a beautiful image indeed (much nicer than say, the March moon name, Palolo Worm).
I'm not sure what the name indicates, maybe a seasonal running of the Parrotfish, but I like it. For more on historical and cultural names for the full moon, check here, a pretty cool site for things moonal. Oh, that's not a word? It is for today!

The moon in the very late afternoon, not quite full, but plenty bright

I was afraid there would be too many clouds, but that didn't stop the moon

There was a lot of peek-a-moon going on

But, finally, she was free of the clouds.

One of my favorite sites is Free Cabin Porn, which highlights photographs of cabins of every sort, from every imaginable (and occasionally unimaginable) location around the world. One of today's offerings was a little different.

This is an art installation four stories up on a hotel in San Francisco. On the above site, all you get is the location and the name, 'Manifest Destiny', but for a more interpretive and informative description, you can go here. I only can say what my Dad used to say "I don't know much about art, but I know what I like." And I like it.

Don't forget! This evening, at 6 o'clock, Ivan Solis, who is running for one of the spots for Mayor in the March primary (I hope you are registered and will vote!), will be having a meeting at Seabourne that will be held in English. The meeting is for everyone, Spanish and English speaking alike, but for those of us who aren't Spanish fluent, this is a great chance to ask questions and get answers without having to ask our more accomplished bi-lingual friends 'What did he say?'. Be sure to check it out; I'll see you there!
