Free Range Friday - So It Begins!

We just got an unusual out of the grey blue blast of rain so hard it sounded like hail. Really. The cat ran in looking seriously scared, she who chases pit bulls from the yard. Now it's just a steady, quickly lessening to gone patter that I hope doesn't return as today is bread and hot sauce day. Beyond the fact that the island is full of people ready to play on this Good Friday. Depending on your belief system, it can have a religious meaning, or just be a Good Friday, with a full moon thrown in for Good Measure.

April has some wonderful full moon names from different cultures; here are a few.

This is the full moon in March 2009, but I couldn't find an April one of mine

Planter's Moon
Peony Moon
Flower Moon
Wildcat Moon (I like this one a lot)
Moon When Geese Return in Scattered Formation
Growling Moon
Seed Moon
Awakening Moon

If you'd like to know the origins, go here.

Bright and early yesterday, Bonilla showed up to do yet more work on the dinghy. All the extra fiberglass is now ground off and sanded, and if it doesn't rain again, which according to the radar, it shouldn't, more will get done today. Woo hoo!

What mocko jumbies do on their days off

I've added a specialty bread to Friday's line up and this week it is red wine and cheese bread. The recipe sounded really good but I'd never made it before and was a bit nervous, but having tasted it fresh from the oven, I'm happy with it. I mean, it's like eating the food pyramid with wine inside. Even for pre-dawn breakfast, it was good! Next week will be...well, I'm not exactly sure yet. I'd like to try sun-dried tomatoes and olives. Maybe.
A Culebra bread line - rosemary garlic, hearty grain, red wine and cheese, rye

Have a free ranging Friday! Do something faithfully.

  1. Nice post. For a bit of light relief you might enjoy this cartoon about the food pyramid. http://caroleschatter.blogspot.co.nz/2012/04/food-pyramid.html

  2. In Maine, it's also called the fish moon. That's because the ice is out of the lakes and people can fish again. But, I do like the sound of peony moon.
