Culebra Semana Santa Sunday 2012
The sun shone. The water danced. There was laughter and singing and good food and friends. Strangers who weren't strange at all became new friends. A woman from Hawaii, now in California, friend of Grady and Walt. A couple with their beautiful daughter who have lived aboard 5 years. Another couple with another beautiful daughter who also live aboard. A man who lives on a trawler with his little dog. There was: Synchronized swimming. Fish tales. More. If Sunday Fundays were rated, this one would stand up there as a solid five star.
Some of the last Semana Santa partiers
This boat belongs to one of the people who came over, a man and his dog Bobbi
More people catching the last bit of the holiday. Dozens of boats had streamed out before them.
Walt, Grady and Cheryl sailing in.
Pam and Neil discuss the merits of a sippy cup.
Luma the winged fish girl
Chris came by for awhile, checking out the reef before he headed home.
I can't spell her name but I can spell beautiful girl (beautiful parents too)
Doug and Bobbi (don't tell Doug and Mariel's cat)
And now, for the synchronized swimming portion of our show
Doug had brought his guitar. Luma's Dad (see how cleverly I avoid actually mentioning that I don't remember his name?) brought his conga. Cheryl brought her voice. They'd never met, but somewhere in the world of music, they've played together a long time. This pretty much gave all of us listening chills of the good kind. Thank you again, you three!
I hear we are going to be treated to (if you sing and/or play, you are invited to join in!) Jam Sessions on certain Tuesdays at the library. Not this Tuesday, but next, so mark your calendar. I'm not sure how long Cheryl is staying but if you get a chance to hear her sing, take it! Plus, she's just a fun person to be around.
Day was done, going the sun, with the best kind of tiredness, full of instant memories to take home.
Have a maximum Monday! Do something magnified. (Unless you are one of the very tired post-Semana Santa folk, in which case, have the most mellow Monday. Do something meaningless.)
Karen and Rick, we all miss you too!! Every once in awhile I glimpse a large boat, but it's never Wanderbird. Your photos look like you've been keeping the adventures going. One of these years...
